How the Double Peoria Handicapping System Works

Twelve (12) hidden holes were selected, 6 holes in the front nine and 6 holes in the back nine. These holes were personally chosen by the tournament chairman, thus inhibiting himself from playing in the competition. The holes represented the 12 toughest holes based on the scorecard.  It could have been a random pick, but it was decided that these holes were a good representation of the course combined with the individual player’s ability.  The hidden holes were Holes #1,2,3,6,7,9,12,13,14,16,17 and 18.

Handicap = (Total player’s score of hidden holes* x 1.5 minus Total par score of hidden holes x 1.5) x 80%.  *do not allow more than double par on any of the hidden holes

Net score = Gross score minus above handicap

Ties were broken by whoever had the lower gross score.  If both gross scores were the same, the older player got the higher place.
