The 26 year-old La Salle Bacolod graduate torched the field of 144 players, with 8 birdies and 3 bogeys for an incredible round of 67. Former USC collegiate golfer Bob Bihr captured runner-up spot, shooting one-under 71, followed by Felix “Jun” Tolosa with his personal tournament best score of one-over 73.
Using the Double Peoria handicapping system for the entire field, Butch Bautista bested everyone as low net champion with a net score of 67.4, followed by Adam Cube at 68.2. A tie between Pike Braga and Monching Dumancas at 69.6 was broken by a lower gross score of 78 by Braga. The top three low gross and top ten low net placers received trophies.
On a hot summer day at Trilogy Golf Club, 144 players took their Friday off for a day of fun, fellowship, competition and charity. They came from nearby Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties, and far away places like the Philippines, Hawaii, Northern California, San Diego and Ventura counties.
Thanks to all the volunteers, the event went smoothly, promptly starting at 12:30 PM and ending at 6:00 PM. A sumptuous Western-style tri-tip barbecue buffet dinner immediately followed.
There were lots and lots of raffle prizes won, with Ted Salac going home with the I-Phone grand prize. Three Titleist D1 and D2 drivers, along with the latest Scotty Cameron putter were also included among the top draws.
To all our generous sponsors, you were THE vital part of the tournament’s success.
At the end of the day, players and organizers went home happy knowing that they were all part of a charity event that will help disadvantaged children and youth through the various beneficiaries of DLSAASC.
CONGRATULATIONS to all the winners and players!
