With ‘Green’ fever gradually creeping into all aspects of our lives today, not only has this popular movement gained support locally but also, in many respects, internationally!
I couldn’t agree more with the statement above, but guess what!!! … I was not actually referring to the increasingly popular ‘green living’, but rather to the “Going Green” efforts via our very own De La Salle Alumni Association.
As president of the Southern California Chapter for the past two years, it has been very rewarding to see our membership numbers escalate from the low 200s to over 340 (and still growing !!!). Our “Reach Out To All La Sallians” mission has embraced members from Zobel, Lipa, St. Benilde LaSalle Bacolod, Greenhills, Dasmarinas, Canlubang, & many others… and our ranks have been rejuvenated with the energies of our younger Alumni, circa 2000 & up. A successful “Got Batchmates” theme continues to generate a lot of fun & excitement, and interest for more and more alumni to join.
A wide array of Alumni activities range from our involvement at the Kundirana concert, annual Golf tournaments & Christmas celebrations, our exposure at the Gary V concert at the Nokia Theatre, the recent La Salle Boys Club reunion at Las Vegas, to the picnic at Huntington Beach last week, and one can’t help but be “GREEN”, and feel good being a LaSallian today.
A number of our Philippine-based projects, such as The Kuya Center, Bahay Pag-asa and our very own Scholarship funds, have touched the lives of numerous recipients. Much like the recent Beijing Olympics highlighted the theme of “One World”, we at La Salle have been promoting the One La Salle Scholarship fund, and we are well on our way to topping One (1) Billion pesos by 2011.
Currently, our biggest ongoing global project, World Congress VII scheduled for 2009 here in Los Angeles – has been gaining more support and exposure locally & internationally. As we anxiously await May 2009, we eagerly look forward to welcoming each and everyone of our fellow Green brothers & sisters, LaSallians all!
Indeed, there couldn’t be a better time to be a LaSallian than right now !!!
Thank you all for your Animo spirit & enthusiasm. With your volunteer work and continued support, I gladly accept an extension of my presidency for another year to work with you all for the convergence of Green and White as One La Salle.
Animo LaSalle!!!
Yours in St. La Salle,
Denny Cagampan III
